Used the L3 principle:  Love, Listen, Learn......

John:  I noticed you said you have been feeling pretty down lately?  Why do you feel that way?

Cousin:  I don't know, I just feel sad all the time, empty at the end of the day.

John:  (I listened to why he felt that way and then I asked what his spiritual beliefs were).

C:  I don't think about those things, they are too scary to think about. 

J:  Heaven and hell?

C:  yeah, I don't believe in any because it is too scary.

J:  Back to why he felt the way he did.......I asked him if I could tell him a story on how we got here and why so much chaos (because he asked why does God allow suffering if He loves us?)

C:  Sure, tell me the story.

J:  Went through the GOSPEL Journey

C:  He said he never heard anyone say it that way---it was refreshing.  He needed more time to think about it.

J:  I told him he felt empty just as the women at the well felt in John 4.   That is why Jesus offered her living water (Himself)--so she wouldn't thirst again.

C:  Yeah, makes sense.  But I don't know if that is the ONLY way---seems so exclusive to me. 

J:  You think about that.  I told him to read John to get to know Jesus and check out the website for more information.
