Who We Are
Mission 28 Youth Ministry
Our Focus
We get the name "The Mission 28" from Matthew 28:16-20, where Jesus said to Go reach out to the lost all over the world and teach them to obey everything He taught while He was on earth. We are not creating something new, but obeying something Jesus told us to do 2,000 years ago!
"Go Wide" is going wide with the Gospel (the message of Jesus); speading it here, near, and far!
"Go Deep" is understanding the truths of the Bible and obeying them and teaching others to do the same!
A student’s personal relationship with Jesus is the core of this youth ministry. Knowing and personally experiencing God’s transforming love, power, and truth is the deepest need and greatest joy of humanity and more satisfying than anything the world can offer us. We want students to perceive themselves as God perceives them and embrace their true identity as a child of the King. We work from God’s acceptance rather than for it (realizing that salvation can never be earned, but rather received by faith in Jesus alone). We desire to change the atmosphere and break any awkwardness that comes with being with God and each other. God is creating a new normal, where we are comfortable in God’s presence and talking about the things of God with each other.
Our worship service on Wednesday night is fundamental to our relationship with God. It recognizes His worth and we become like the One whom we worship. Our teachings focus on students loving God and loving each other and obeying the commands of Jesus (Go Deep). We also teach them to love those who don’t know God by sharing the Gospel in word and action (Go Wide), knowing that signs and wonders follow those who believe so we can reach the whole city of New Smyrna Beach for Jesus!
